On Sunday, April 7, Gunblast: Culture Clash was awarded the 1996 Rosebud Award, a prestigious Washington, D.C. award for outstanding independent films. Gunblast: Culture Clash is the gripping half-hour documentary of the Hegins Labor Day pigeon shoot, produced by Washington, D.C. film maker Eddie Becker.
Gunblast: Culture Clash and the four other Rosebud winners can be seen on Saturday, April 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the American Film Institute of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Tickets are $6.50 at the door, and there will be a "Meet the Film Makers Panel" at 3:30 p.m.
"As film festivals, cable access, and public television stations show this powerful film to millions of viewers, the world will see Pennsylvania's shame," says Heidi Prescott, National Director of The Fund for Animals. "Pennsylvania should be embarrassed that it is portraying to the world an image of violence."

On Monday, April 8, animal protection activists will hold candlelight vigils, protests, and video showings across Pennsylvania at the district offices of State Senators who voted to keep live pigeon shooting contests legal. Some of the groups will show Gunblast: Culture Clash or will give a copy of the film to their Senator. Please contact The Fund for Animals for a list of scheduled events across the state.
Another documentary featuring the Hegins Labor Day pigeon shoot, Home Box Office's To Love or Kill: Man vs. Animal, will debut on Monday, April 8, on HBO at 10:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific. The documentary is part of HBO's America Undercover series, and will be shown throughout the month of April.
